We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a commodity to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.

Rain Barrels & Composters

Rain Barrel: A rain barrel connected to your downspout—also known as a rain bank—is a great way to keep stormwater out of the system and to cut down your water bill! Instead of water from the tap or
faucet, you can use the water you’ve saved to keep your home landscape happy and growing.

Composting: Yard trimmings and food residuals together constitute 26 percent of the U.S. municipal solid waste stream.Compost has the ability to help enrich poor soils. The composting process encourages the production of beneficial micro-organisms (mainly bacteria and fungi) which in turn break down organic matter to create humus. Humus--a rich nutrient-filled material--increases the nutrient content in soils and helps soils retain moisture.
